These sessions are for children with strong language and thinking skills, academically they are inline with their peers or high achievers. Social skills is their difficulties; inability to read non-verbal communication, difficulties with listening without interrupting, they may be impulsive and act inappropriately unable to make friends and maintain positive relationships.
-Focus: The primary goal of this class is to enhance social skills through fun and interactive play using various activities to help children with social skills.
- Teaching Approach: Visual tools and hands on activities, problem-solving activities, reflection journal asking children to express their thoughts, emotions and observations about their own and others social interactions.
-Activities: Include social scenarios, role playing exercises, group discussions, managing feelings and emotions.
Examples of the various approaches we use in this session:
- Games: We play various fun and engaging games. We play games that require cooperation, sharing, turn-taking and problem solving.
- Role play: Children will be given various social scenarios in which they act out and practise the appropriate response.
- Visual aids, such as pictures, videos, images and cartoon and any visual representations to convey information.
- Group activities: Children will participate in group activities that promote social interaction and cooperation. Children will be given activities that require them to work together. This will improve social communication skills, enhance problem-solving skills, and boost self-esteem.
